dr. Seyi Aboyade

distinguished scientist

Hello, I’m Seyi Aboyade, and I’m delighted to be a mentor at the Sasek Zarephath Foundation. My journey into the field of biosciences began at FUTA where I obtained a BTech degree in Applied Biochemistry. A love for research was born there and this has laid the foundation for my academic and entrepreneurial career.

As a , foodie, and entrepreneur, I bring a wealth of experience and a genuine commitment to advancing food as medicine through innovative ideas. In my extensive career, I’ve earned accolades such as a B.Tech Honors in Applied Biochemistry, an M.Sc. in Pharmacognosy, an M.Sc. in Food Production Management, and a Ph.D. in Botany.

With almost 20 years of research experience, I’ve had the privilege of making significant contributions to medicinal plant research, exploring the therapeutic potential of diverse plant species, and developing nutraceuticals from food plants. My multidisciplinary approach has significantly contributed to the field of medicinal plant research by understanding that “not everything natural is safe” and that there are public health implications to the indiscriminate use of herbal medicines, especially co-utilization with biomedicines.

As a testament to my innovative spirit, I co-founded Nutrigo SA, a South African company dedicated to using scientific principles to create nutritious foods. The company specializes in leveraging time-honoured African ingredients, blending traditional wisdom with modern nutritional science.Beyond my scientific and entrepreneurial pursuits, I find joy in providing guidance, training, and support to the younger generation. My commitment to mentorship reflects a deep-seated belief in empowering the next wave of scientists and entrepreneurs.

The Sasek Zarephath Foundation’s commitment to education and community development deeply resonates with me. Witnessing the foundation’s impact and the transformative changes it brings about fueled my desire to contribute as a mentor.I believe in a collaborative and personalized approach to mentorship. My goal is to empower individuals, helping them navigate challenges and seize opportunities in their respective journeys. I am a firm believer in the potential of mentorship to create positive change.

When I’m not immersed in the world of science and entrepreneurship, you’ll find me cooking and gardening. These activities not only provide balance in my life but also contribute to the diverse perspectives I bring to mentorship.I’m honored to be part of the Sasek Zarephath Foundation’s mission to shape a future where every life is empowered, every community thrives, and every dream takes flight.
